Vehicle Window Graphics and One-Way Vision Film
Vehicle window graphics put your branding on rear and side glass without turning the window into a wall. Metal Signage supplies one-way vision perforated film, cut-vinyl lettering and printed window decals for vans, bakkies, buses, trucks and cars.
They suit businesses that want extra branding on vehicles they already run, or want to complete a wrap with matching glass graphics.
- One-way vision film
- Cut lettering and decals
- Matches vehicle branding
- Fitted by appointment

Where window graphics work best
- Rear windows of vans, bakkies and sedans carrying business names and contact lines.
- Side windows of buses, shuttles and staff transport.
- Windows of cabs on trucks for names and unit numbers.
- Back-door glass on delivery vans where the rear is a prime advertising spot.
- Corporate and rental vehicles with removable branding.
Window graphics extend a design to areas that panels cannot cover, and cost less than full coverage.
Design options
- One-way vision film: a printed perforated film that shows the graphic outside while the occupants see through it.
- Cut-vinyl lettering: names, numbers and contact details applied directly to glass.
- Printed decals: full-colour logos and badges on clear or white film.
- Frosted or etched-effect film: for privacy panels or decorative bands.
- Inside or outside fitting: applied to the outside face or the inside face, depending on the film and the purpose.
Materials and finishes
One-way vision film is a printable vinyl with small perforations, laminated for durability. From outside it reads as a printed image. From inside, the holes allow a clear view, although vision is reduced compared with bare glass, especially in low light. Standard cut vinyl and clear decals work on flat or lightly curved glass. Heavily curved or tinted glass needs checking before material is chosen.
Lighting and visibility
Window graphics are not lit. One-way film looks strongest in daylight and may look dim at night, because it relies on outside light on the printed surface. Light-coloured lettering on dark glass reads best. For night-time recognition on the body of the vehicle, see reflective vehicle graphics.
How window graphics compare with other options
- Choose window graphics for glass areas, alone or alongside body branding.
- Choose lettering and decals for painted panels.
- Choose delivery van branding or bakkie branding when the whole vehicle needs a design.
- Choose a full wrap when you want complete coverage; matching window film then finishes the look.
For building windows rather than vehicles, see retail window graphics.
Technical considerations
- Driver visibility: graphics must not obstruct the driver's required field of view. Rules about window obstruction and tint differ by window and vehicle, so check the requirements that apply to you.
- Glass type: factory tint, aftermarket tint and heated rear-window elements affect where and how film is applied.
- Curvature: rear windows are often curved and need suitable material.
- Inside versus outside: one-way film is typically applied outside. Fitting over wiper sweep and demister lines is avoided.
- Artwork: fine detail can be lost on perforated film, so logos are kept bold.
What affects the price
- The number and size of windows.
- One-way film versus cut lettering or decals.
- Print complexity and laminate.
- Removal of old film or decals.
- The number of vehicles and where fitting takes place.
Care and maintenance
Wait for the period advised at fitting before washing. Clean with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners, ammonia-based glass cleaners where the installer advises against them, and scrapers. Do not run wipers over raised edges. Old film can be removed neatly. See vehicle branding removal.

Frequently asked questions
Can people inside see out through one-way film?
Yes, though vision is reduced compared with bare glass, particularly in low light.
Is one-way film allowed on any window?
Not necessarily. Rules about driver visibility apply to windows and vehicle types, so check what applies to you before ordering.
Can you put graphics on tinted windows?
Often, but we check the tint and glass type first.
Will it damage my heated rear window?
Film is designed around demister lines, and removal is done carefully. We advise at the survey.
Can I get matching graphics for my wrap?
Yes. Window film can match your body graphics, whether supplied by us or not.
