Houghton Signage Company for Estates and Boutique Businesses

Walk through Houghton and the signs that work are small and well made: a stainless steel name on a gate pillar, a brass plate beside an intercom, a set of house numbers cut cleanly from metal. Large commercial advertising is out of keeping with the streets.

Commercial use is scattered rather than concentrated. Home offices, consultants, guesthouses, schools and the occasional private care facility each need a modest but professional identity, and many sit behind boundary walls where the gate is the only place to be seen.

Private homes and large properties

Address numbers, name plates and gate-pillar lettering in metal. Backlit numbers can help visitors find a gate after dark.

Guesthouses and boutique accommodation

A welcoming entrance sign, room numbers, and a discreet illuminated name at the street.

Home offices and professional practices

A tasteful plaque or small lettering that identifies the practice without turning a residence into a shopfront.

Residential complexes and cluster developments

Entrance monuments, unit numbers and internal direction signs for visitors and delivery drivers.

• Apartment and Unit Number Signs: clean metal numbers for homes, flats and cluster units.
• Residential Complex Entrance Signs: an entrance statement for townhouse and cluster developments.
• Stainless Steel Letters: weather-resistant lettering for gate pillars and boundary walls.
• Engraved Metal Plaques: a refined plaque for a gate, wall or intercom position.
• Hotel Signs: identification for guesthouses and boutique accommodation.
• Illuminated Monument Signs: a lit freestanding name sign where a property has the frontage for one.
• Estate and Complex Wayfinding: internal signs for visitors inside larger gated developments.
• Laser-Cut Metal Signs: custom patterns and house names that match the architecture.

From our Rivonia base we visit Houghton properties by appointment, usually in daylight so we can judge how a sign will look against a wall or gate and from the road. We check the pillar or wall material, note any intercom or gate wiring close by, and agree a position with the owner before we draw anything.

Houghton sits in the City of Johannesburg, and the city can regulate commercial signage on residential-zoned property. If you run a business from a home, ask what your zoning allows before ordering. Owners of sectional-title and cluster developments should have the body corporate or trustees approve the design. For gate and wall signs we check existing fixings and any power point near the position during survey and design stage; lighting is added only where power is practical.

Project photographs from this area will be added as jobs are verified.
