Recognition walls
Employee Recognition Walls Built to Be Updated
A recognition wall tells staff and visitors what your organisation values and who has earned a place on it. Metal Signage designs and installs walls in metal, acrylic and print, with a format that lets your team add names without a full rebuild.
It suits head offices, schools, clinics, mines, plants and service businesses that celebrate long service, awards or company values.
- Add names without rebuilds
- Metal, acrylic and print
- Branded to your look
- Surveyed before we build

Where it works best
- Reception and entrance halls where visitors see your culture first.
- Staff canteens, corridors and break areas.
- Head-office boardrooms and training rooms.
- Plants, depots and workshops where safety and long-service awards matter.
- Schools and institutions with honours boards.
Walls can honour individuals, teams, values, milestones or a mix of them.
Design options
- Name-plate walls: a grid of small plates, each with a name and date, with new plates added over time.
- Slide-in or slot-in panels: frames that hold replaceable name cards.
- Values walls: large lettering or graphics showing company values, see Corporate Wall Logos for a 3D logo to anchor it.
- Photo and story panels: printed panels for profiles and milestones.
- Engraved boards: a fixed honours board with names engraved annually, see Engraved Metal Plaques.
- Hybrid: fixed metal headline plus changeable inserts.
Materials and finishes
- Brushed stainless, brass or copper: premium plates and lettering, see Stainless Steel Letters and Brass Letters and Signs.
- Acrylic: clear or coloured, with printed or engraved text.
- Powder-coated aluminium: backing panels and frames in brand colours.
- Printed vinyl and board: for photographic and story content, see Office Wall Graphics.
- Timber-look and composite: a warmer interior feel.
Lighting
Recognition walls are usually lit by the room's lighting, but accent lighting can help. A halo-lit logo at the top draws attention, see Halo-Lit and Backlit Letters, or a lit panel can frame the headline, see Slimline LED Lightboxes. Lighting is optional and needs power at the wall.
How it compares with related options
- For a single 3D logo on a wall, see Corporate Wall Logos or Illuminated Reception Logos.
- For printed brand storytelling without updatable names, Office Wall Graphics is quicker and lighter.
- For permanent honours or memorials, Engraved Metal Plaques is the more formal choice.
Choose a recognition wall when you expect the content to grow and want changes to be easy.
Technical considerations
- Growth: plan space for future names; running out of room is the commonest problem.
- Viewing distance: names are read close up, so plate text can be small, but headlines and values need larger lettering. As a rough guide, many designers allow around 25 mm of letter height per 10 m of viewing distance.
- Mounting surface: drywall, brick and concrete need different fixings; heavy metal walls need solid fixing points.
- Contrast: text should be strongly contrasted with its plate.
- Consistency: new plates should match the original, so we record materials and fonts.
- Approvals: landlord or body-corporate consent may be needed; we check during the survey.
What affects the price
- Wall size and number of plates or panels.
- Materials: stainless or brass versus acrylic or print.
- Updatable systems versus fixed engraving.
- Photo or printed content.
- Lighting and power requirements.
- Future plate supply for later additions.
Care and maintenance
Dust regularly and wipe with a soft damp cloth. Use a metal-safe cleaner on brass or copper only if advised, and keep abrasive pads away from engraved or printed faces. When adding names, order from the same material and font so the wall stays consistent. Keep a record of the job for reorders.
