Fleet branding
Fleet Branding and Phased Rollouts
Fleet branding means every vehicle carries the same, correctly applied identity, whether you run six bakkies or sixty mixed vehicles. Metal Signage designs one master system, adapts it to each vehicle type and fits it in planned phases so your operations keep moving.
It suits service companies, distributors, security and facilities operators, contractors and any business whose vehicles are its most visible advertising.
- One design, many vehicle types
- Phased to keep you running
- Consistent colours and placement
- Fleet records for reorders

Where fleet branding works best
- Service and maintenance companies with a mix of vans and bakkies.
- Distributors running vans and trucks on daily routes.
- Contractors who add vehicles over time and need new ones to match.
- Security, cleaning and facilities businesses where vehicles signal professionalism.
- Franchises and multi-branch operators who need the same look in every region.
The value of a fleet programme is consistency. Mismatched logos, colours and positions weaken a brand faster than a plain vehicle does.
Design options
- Master design: a core layout for logo, name, service line and contact details, sized to scale per vehicle.
- Vehicle templates: adapted versions for each body type, such as delivery vans, bakkies and trucks.
- Tiers: lettering-only for support vehicles, partial graphics for standard vehicles, wraps for flagship units.
- Numbering and unit markings: fleet numbers or depot codes applied in a consistent position.
- Future-proofing: a stored template so new vehicles match the fleet.
Materials and finishes
Fleet work normally specifies one vinyl family and one laminate finish across all vehicles, so colour and gloss level stay the same over time and from vehicle to vehicle. Cut vinyl suits simple logos and lettering. Digitally printed and laminated vinyl suits gradients, photographs and large areas. Reflective film can be used on selected elements across the fleet.
Standardising the material also makes it easier to repair or replace a single panel later and match the rest.
Lighting and night-time visibility
Vehicle graphics are not lit internally. For fleets that operate early, late or in poor light, selected elements can be produced in reflective film so the vehicles remain recognisable in headlights. We cover this in reflective vehicle graphics. Any reflective use is agreed in the master design, so it is the same on every vehicle.
How fleet branding compares with single-vehicle work
- Choose fleet branding when you have several vehicles, will add more, or need dependable consistency between depots and drivers. A single master design and phased schedule saves rework.
- Choose individual jobs such as lettering and decals when you only have one or two vehicles.
- Choose full wraps or partial wraps for specific vehicles inside the fleet where more impact is needed.
Technical considerations
- Vehicle audit: we record make, model, body type and condition for each vehicle, because identical-looking vehicles often have different panels.
- Scaling: a logo that works on a van door may need to be simplified for a narrow bakkie panel.
- Legibility: as a rough guide, many designers allow around 25 mm of letter height per 10 m of viewing distance.
- Surface condition: old graphics, dents and repaint areas must be assessed vehicle by vehicle.
- Leased vehicles: check lease terms before branding, and plan removal at hand-back.
- Downtime: fitting windows are scheduled around routes and shifts.
What affects the price
- The number of vehicles and how many body types there are.
- Tiered coverage: lettering, partial graphics or wraps.
- Cut versus printed graphics and the laminate chosen.
- Removal of existing branding.
- Reflective elements, fleet numbering and special markings.
- How the rollout is phased and where fitting takes place.
Volume across a rollout is considered when quoting, and we work from the confirmed vehicle list.
Care and maintenance
Give drivers a simple wash guideline: hand wash or soft-brush systems, no pressure jets at edges, no harsh solvents. Keep a record of which vehicles have which graphics so damaged panels can be replaced to match. We can inspect and repair graphics as part of regular servicing, and arrange removal when vehicles are sold or returned. See vehicle branding removal.
