Survey by appointment
Book a Signage Site Survey
A site survey is where a sign project becomes accurate. We visit your building by appointment, measure, photograph and assess it, so the design, quotation and approvals are based on what is really there rather than on assumptions.
- By appointment
- Gauteng-wide
- Before design starts

What the survey covers
- Measurements: wall or facade dimensions, available sign zone, mounting heights.
- Surface: brick, plaster, cladding, glass, steel or concrete, and how it affects fixing.
- Viewing: from where and how far the sign is seen, and any obstructions such as trees or canopies.
- Power: where a supply is available for illuminated signs, and what is needed to reach it.
- Access: how installers and, later, maintenance crews reach the sign.
- Existing signs: condition, fixings and removal needs.
- Approvals: whether landlord, body-corporate or municipal consent is likely to be needed.
Why survey before designing
Two walls that look identical in a photograph can behave very differently. One may be solid face brick that takes anchors well, the other hollow cladding that needs a backing frame. One may have a supply a metre away, the other nothing nearby. Light spill onto neighbours, afternoon glare and the position of trees or passing vehicles all influence how a sign is designed. Doing this work first avoids redesigns and costly surprises during installation.
What to prepare
A few things speed up the visit: your logo files, any brand guidelines, the lease or landlord signage rules, the contact for building management, and a clear idea of what you want the sign to achieve. If it is a multi-site project, send the full site list through multi-site branding.
Access and safety
Tell us about security procedures, parking, induction requirements and working hours. For signs at height we assess whether ladders, scaffolding or a cherry picker are needed. Roof or structure access may require building manager permission, and we will not proceed where it is unsafe.
Lighting, power and electrical access
For illuminated signs we note where power can be taken, the condition of the distribution board, the route for cabling and whether trenching, sleeving or a new circuit may be needed. Electrical work is checked at this stage and may require a qualified electrician and a compliance certificate arranged through the property owner. Advanced lighting, such as colour change or programmable effects, is subject to technical assessment and confirmed availability.
We also look at light spill and glare. A bright sign facing a residential window or a road junction may need a softer lighting style or dimming, so we record neighbours, sightlines and the direction the sign faces.
After the survey
We prepare a mock-up and a written quotation. You receive notes on structural, electrical and municipal matters checked at this stage, and advice on what consent may be needed from the landlord, body corporate or municipality. Approvals depend on third parties and cannot be promised. See our process and request a quote.

Frequently asked questions
Is a survey necessary?
For most illuminated, structural or building signs, yes. For simple items we may work from photographs.
How long does a survey take?
It varies with the site. Simple shopfronts are quick; multi-elevation buildings take longer.
Do I need to be there?
You or a representative with site authority should be available for access.
Can you survey several sites in one visit?
Where sites are close together, we can plan grouped visits.
