Signage Guides and Resources
Six short guides to help you make better signage decisions before you ask for a quote. Each is general guidance, and we confirm specifics on site.

Choosing letter size for viewing distance
A common rule of thumb is that designers allow around 25 mm of letter height for every 10 m of viewing distance for basic legibility. Larger is better for fast traffic, poor contrast or complex fonts. Compare real sightlines on the survey. See large building signs.
Front-lit vs halo-lit vs dual-lit
Front-lit letters glow from the face for strong legibility at night. Halo-lit letters keep faces solid and glow on the wall, which suits smooth surfaces and a refined look. Dual-lit adds both. Choose front-lit for impact, halo for elegance, dual for both. See lighting technology.
Metal finishes outdoors
Stainless steel resists corrosion and can be brushed or polished. Aluminium is light and takes powder coating well. Brass and copper change character as they age unless lacquered. Corten forms a rust-like patina that can stain adjacent surfaces. See materials and finishes.
Landlord and municipal approval basics
Depending on the site, you may need consent from the landlord, body corporate and the local municipality, and requirements differ between municipalities. Structural and electrical considerations are reviewed during survey and design. Start early, as approvals can be the slowest step. See our process.
Planning a fleet rollout
Standardise artwork per vehicle type, check each vehicle for condition, and stage vehicles so your operations are not interrupted. See fleet branding and multi-site branding.
Maintaining LED signs
Clean faces with a soft cloth and mild cleaner, check for dark spots and moisture, and have fixings inspected periodically. Do not open electrical enclosures yourself. See maintenance enquiries and LED repairs.
