Window film

Frosted and Privacy Film for Glass Offices

Glass partitions let light through but can leave meeting rooms, offices and reception desks exposed. Frosted and printed window film adds privacy, branding and visible markings to glass without replacing it.

It is aimed at offices, medical and professional rooms, and retail back-of-house areas that want a clean, modern look quickly.

  • Privacy with light
  • Fast to install
  • Removable film
  • Custom logos and patterns
Frosted and Privacy Film for Glass Offices

Where it works best

  • Meeting rooms and boardrooms with glass walls.
  • Open-plan offices that need defined zones.
  • Reception glass screens and counters.
  • Medical, legal and consulting rooms where conversations are private.
  • Shopfront and interior glazing that needs a branded band.

It also adds safety markings to glass doors and full-height panels so people notice them.

Design options

  • Full frost: the whole glass panel is frosted for maximum privacy.
  • Gradient or fade: frost that fades from opaque to clear.
  • Band or strip: a horizontal frosted band at seated or standing eye level, with clear glass above and below.
  • Cut-out logo or text: clear letters in a frosted field, or frosted letters on clear glass.
  • Pattern and dot films: repeated shapes for privacy and decoration.
  • Printed film: full-colour graphics on frosted or clear film for brand walls, see Office Wall Graphics.

Materials and finishes

  • Frosted vinyl: a translucent film that gives an etched-glass appearance.
  • Cut vinyl: opaque or coloured vinyl for text, lines and logos.
  • Printed film with laminate: for colour graphics and photos.
  • Perforated vinyl: allows partial see-through from inside, see Retail Window Graphics for one-way options.

Film is applied to the glass surface; the glass type and condition are checked at survey.

Lighting

Window film is not a lit product, but it behaves well with lighting. Frosted panels glow softly when lit from behind, which can suit reception and feature walls. If you want a deliberately lit panel, look at Slimline LED Lightboxes or Edge-Lit Acrylic Signs.

How it compares with related options

Choose film when you want privacy or branding on existing glass at lower disruption than replacing panels.

Technical considerations

  • Glass type: some glass, such as heat-treated or double-glazed units, needs the right film and method; we confirm at survey.
  • Contrast and visibility: markings on glass doors should be at an obvious height and contrast with the background behind.
  • Interior or exterior application: inside-face film protects it from weather, while outside-face film needs an exterior-grade product.
  • Heat and sun: strong sun can affect adhesion over time, so placement is checked.
  • Removal: film can usually be removed, but condition depends on age and sun exposure.
  • Approvals: in leased buildings, landlords or body corporates may need to consent to changes to glass or facades.

What affects the price

  • Total glass area to be covered.
  • Film type: plain frost, cut pattern or full-colour print.
  • Design complexity and number of unique elements.
  • Surface prep and glass condition.
  • Access, including height and number of panes.
  • Removal of any existing film first.

Care and maintenance

Allow the film to cure before cleaning. After that, use a soft cloth and mild soapy water; avoid scrapers and ammonia-based cleaners. Do not stick tape or posters onto the film. Tell us about the film type if you plan future removal or changes.

Frequently asked questions

Does frosted film block light?

Frosted film lets light through while obscuring clear view. How much depends on the film chosen, and we show samples.

Can you add our logo?

Yes, as cut-out, frosted or printed graphics, positioned to match your branding.

Is it removable?

Usually, yes. Condition depends on film age and sun exposure, and we assess at survey.

Can you film curved or large glass?

Flat and gently curved glass can usually be done; large panes may need specialist handling and are checked at survey.

Is it safe for glass doors?

Film can add visible markings to doors, but it is not a substitute for safety-rated glass. We advise on placement during the survey.
