Forecourt shops
Forecourt Convenience Store Branding
The shop on a forecourt competes for attention with the pumps, the pylon and the canopy, yet it is where much of the business is done. Metal Signage designs, makes and installs shop fascias, window graphics, entrance signs and in-store signs for forecourt convenience stores, so the shop looks like part of the same brand as the rest of the site.
- Shop fascias
- Window and door graphics
- In-store signs
- Matches the forecourt

Where convenience store branding is used
- Forecourt shops being opened, rebranded or refreshed
- Sites where the shop identity does not match the canopy and pylon
- Stores adding a coffee point, bakery counter, ATM or similar service
- Operators who want clearer entrance and opening-hours signage
- Multi-site operators who want their shops to look the same across branches
Branding options
Shop branding is a set of pieces that work together from outside to inside.
- Shop fascia. A lit lightbox or lettering above the entrance. See retail fascia signs for the underlying options.
- Window graphics. Frosted, printed or cut-vinyl graphics for promotions and branding; see retail window graphics.
- Entrance signs. Door vinyls, opening hours and hand-rail or step markings.
- In-store signs. Aisle labels, counter signs, department headers and wall graphics.
- Menu and promotion boards. Possibly lit or digital, such as menu boards and digital menus, subject to technical assessment and confirmed availability for digital items.
We design so the shop signage borrows its colour, typeface and proportions from the canopy and pylon, giving a drive-in customer one clear impression.
Materials and finishes
- Aluminium and acrylic for lit fascia boxes and letters
- Cut vinyl and digital print for windows and doors
- Frosted film for privacy and a clean look
- Aluminium composite and acrylic panels for in-store signs
- Rigid foam board or vinyl for short-run promotions
Window and door graphics should resist sun fade and cleaning, while in-store signs can be lighter. We advise on which finishes belong where.
Lighting the shop
A lit shop fascia makes the forecourt shop visible at night, when much forecourt trade happens. LED lightboxes and lit letters give even illumination without needing fluorescent tubes. Window graphics can be designed to be seen with the shop lights on behind them.
Lighting should work with the canopy, not fight it. Where the shop sits directly beneath the canopy edge, we check how much light already reaches the fascia before choosing an LED output. Any advanced or colour-changing lighting is subject to technical assessment and confirmed availability.
Shop branding compared with other forecourt signs
- The canopy and pylon attract drivers; the shop signage encourages them to walk in.
- Use directional and safety signs for traffic, and this page for the retail face of the site.
- For stand-alone convenience stores not on a forecourt, see shopfront signs.
- For rollouts across several shops, see multi-branch retail branding.
Technical considerations
- Fascia space. The shop front is often shallow or shared with canopy columns; we measure to avoid clashes.
- Glazing. Window graphics must leave staff able to see out and customers able to see in, which matters for safety.
- Power for lighting. We check access to the shop distribution board and cable routes.
- Lease terms. Forecourt shops often sit under lease or operating agreements that limit what you may change, so get consent first.
- Approvals. Structural, electrical and municipal signage matters are checked at survey and may need the landlord, owner or municipality.
As a rough guide, many designers allow around 25 mm of letter height per 10 m of viewing distance. We confirm sizes on site.
What affects the price
- Fascia size and whether it is lit
- Number and size of window and door graphics
- Type of in-store signs and how many
- Materials and finishes chosen
- Artwork and layout complexity
- Electrical work for new lighting
- Removal of old branding
- Number of shops in a rollout
Care and maintenance
Clean glass graphics gently with water and a soft cloth, avoiding sharp scrapers. Wipe lit fascias occasionally and check lighting is working evenly. Replace promotional graphics when they fade or peel. Our maintenance page and LED signage repairs cover ongoing support.

Frequently asked questions
Can you match the shop to our canopy and pylon?
Yes. We take colours, typefaces and proportions from the rest of the site so the forecourt looks like one brand.
Can you do just the window graphics?
Yes, window graphics can be done on their own, and are an easy way to refresh a shop.
Do I need permission from the site owner?
If the shop is leased or operated under an agreement, check consent with the landlord or owner first. We note requirements at survey.
Can you add menu boards or digital screens?
Static menu boards are straightforward. Digital screens are subject to technical assessment and confirmed availability.
Can you brand several shops the same way?
Yes. We can plan a rollout with one design applied across several sites.
