Artwork Guidelines for Signs and Vehicle Branding

Clean artwork saves time and avoids costly mistakes. Follow these guidelines when sending logos and graphics for letters, lightboxes, wall graphics or vehicle branding.

Artwork Guidelines for Signs and Vehicle Branding

Vector formats first

Cut metal, routed letters and printed graphics all depend on sharp edges. Please send logos as vector files: AI, EPS, PDF or SVG. A vector file can be scaled to any size without loss of quality.

Outline your fonts

Convert all text to outlines or curves before sending, or include the font files. Otherwise, a missing font can change spacing and letter shapes.

Colour references

Provide Pantone references or brand colour specifications where possible. Printed colour, painted colour and lit colour can all look different, so we recommend approving a sample on key brand colours.

Photos and raster images

JPG or PNG images work only for reference or for printed graphics at suitable resolution. Large-format prints are commonly produced at lower resolution than small prints because they are viewed from further away, but the original should be as large as you can supply. A logo screenshot is rarely enough for cutting metal.

Site photographs

Send photos straight-on and at an angle, with some wide shots showing the surroundings. Include something of known size in the shot, for example a door, to help with scale. Our survey confirms the real dimensions.

Vehicle templates

For vehicle branding, supply the make, model and year. We can work from a vehicle template or measured side, rear and bonnet views. Fit and panel lines vary, so artwork is checked against the actual vehicle before printing. See full wraps and lettering.

Accepted uploads

Use the upload option in the quote builder. Accepted file types include AI, EPS, PDF, SVG, JPG, PNG and ZIP archives. Where files are very large, tell us and we will arrange another way to transfer them.

Artwork approval

You approve final artwork or a mock-up before manufacture, so please check spelling, spacing, colours and sizes carefully. See our terms.

Send it anyway and we can advise. We may need to redraw it as a vector, which can be quoted.

Do you design logos?

Our focus is signage. Ask us about design and mock-up services.

What if I do not know my Pantone colours?

Send any brand guide or a printed sample and we will advise.
